You got a really good deal. I am an HVAC contractor in Southwest Michigan. Your installer did a great job. I hope you are happy with your new system!!

Your installer did a great job. I'm trying to get new ducts installed in a 1,500 sq ft ranch since my ducts are too small for the system. To replace flex return duct and 9 flex supply ducts to 7" I was quoted $3,000. I asked for returns in each bedroom, $300 each. How did you get that deal

@AutistiVision Good lord they make a killing. I purchased and installed my own unit making a 2 zone from a one zone and it only cost me $2000. Wow.

Don't buy a Trane! They break down after just a few years! More freon leaks and compressor failures than you could imagine! I know this because I have 3 Trane units.

@AutistiVision Thank you, that actually was very helpful.

Don't see dampers in your flex-ducts but maybe you wouldn't be able to get to them anyhow. Smart to have set the new diffuser to direct air away from that thermostat.
How long did they pump down the system before charging? How deep was the vacuum and did it hold when the pump was isolated from the line set? Did they braze under N2? Did you educate yourself before hiring a contractor? Were you having repair or function problems with your old system?

I'm in the mid-Atlantic area and my central air conditioners are 49 years old and function well. There has been no "maintenance" done, just kept the units clean and yard debris away from them. I did replace one relay and a contactor was corroded, so I replaced that ($10.59 and 20 min. work for me).

RIP WeatherKing 2001-2011. May you find a good new home.
Hi, if possible please let me know what is the price for this AC model. I'm buying a short sale and their making me buy the AC, and I want to know what to negotiate at. Not having pricing online for this is really annoying. thx

@DJCalimovement Actually, I have the invoice, and I can't tell you an exact price either, LOL. We had the inside & outside units replaced, all of our ducts, vents & returns were replaced, and we have the extended warranty. The package price was $7,905. The warranty cost $550. So, the remaining $7,355 covered the units, ducts, other supplies and labor. I'm guessing the system cost was around $5,000, but that's just a guess. I hope this helps!

WHO SAID THEY LAST ABOUT 8 YEARS?!?! That is a lie. Some units vary. But most units last WAY longer than 8 years. My Ruud (same thing as Weatherking) is 12 years old, and shows NO signs of slowing down or age. Some units last up to 35+ years! Whoever said they last about 8 years is definitely just trying to sell you a new unit. And it worked apparently.

@84randomdude Are you seeing the old unit in the vid? It's about to rust through. Maybe the compressor would last a bit longer, but not before the case it's in collapses.

@AutistiVision I didn't see that. Sorry. I just don't understand how my 12 year old almost identical unit has no rust on it anywhere.
But anyway, do you like the new unit? Anything you don't like about it?

@84randomdude I see. I guess you're in a dryer climate. This is Florida and it appears as though the Weatherking's casing just rusts. And oh yea, I've heard of some A/C units lasting real long. But you really want a lower SEER rating. My power bill has dropped by 2/3rds with the new unit.
