  • the Architekt of Rock`n`Roll !!

  • There's a radio show on WPKN in Bridgeport, CT called "Antique Blues". Back in '93, host Bill Nolan did a series called "Search for the True Roots of Rock & Roll"- he started in '40, and ran thru '52, playing hundreds of records that predated Haley, Elvis, etc. I recorded the shows from '47 to '52, and it becomes obvious that it was a progression. There was really no "first" r&r record. It was black rhythm & blues-- Rock and Roll was just a "white" commercial tag added later on. You dig?

  • wynonie is just awesome

  • @rockandswing1 Yeah!. That´s a good song and excellent for dancing. Like Jordan, Haley did songs for dancing. They both worked on Decca Records.

youu are right. But there`s about 40 songs which are considered "the very fist rock and roll". But I must confess that if you push me to choose ONE song that represent to me that revolution in music I mostly "get crazy" when I listen to "Rip It Up" by Bill Haley. Oh men! that makes my feet begin to move and I can't stop them...It's superb

  • @rockandswing1 Many consider the first rock and roll the hit "Caldonia" recorded in 1945 by Louis Jordan and not "That´s all right mama by Crudup.. Louis Jordan was the king of rhythm and blues in the forties!.

  • @BeatlesFetish09

    I continue:

but there's nothing like "the first rock and roll". Many people consider good rocking tonight as the first (it was released on 1947) but others consider the first was "That's allright (mamma)" by Arthur Crudup, released on September 1946. It's not useful to squeeze our brains in order to "discover" which is "the first". I think it's better to gather all that pieces of music and enjoy how that beatiful rock and roll came to life.

    That's what I think

  • @BeatlesFetish09

By a simple reason. "Rock around the clock" was released on March 1954 on a "B" side record. It entered the charts and soon fall down, But on March 1955 the film "Blackboard Jungle" was released and used "Rock Around...", in the film track. That was a big hit. It initiated the "rock and roll revolution" all over the world. The song raised the top of the charts and sell about 25 millions records. So it's not unfair to consider "Rock Aroun..." as the "first" rock. and roll.

  • swinging' rockin' good stuff man

  • @BeatlesFetish09 The early rock n roll of the Alen freed era of the late 40's to the mid 50's sounded like this song;Boogie woogie jump blues types. You are right.

  • @BeatlesFetish09 I don't understand that myself. At all the early show Alen freed had all the singers were R&B artist playing boogie woogie jump blues like this song. They were even using the catch phrase Rock or Rock n roll.
