i was tthe one who said that there is a large gap between yamashita and the others.
john williams cannot do a large amount of the techniques that yamashita can do. john williams does not have the right hand and left control that yamashita has. i sincerely doubt that williams can do tremelo, chord changes, and the different tones that yamashita can do.
i am fine with your opinion that wiliams is a better musician than yamashita but please do not call yamashita a machine.
@kikkom4n i did not say there is a huge gap in technique between yamashita and everyone else. a matter of fact, john williams has superior technique to yamashita and pretty much everybody else in the world. and violin technique has not been refined any longer than guitar technique. guitar is far older than violin. the bottom of the line is that the human brain notices certain things. ears only hear technique up to a point. after that, it is musicality and expression that make music sound good

i despise his bach interpretations but i love what he does with other composers music.
this may be true in violin where technique has been allowed a long time to develop but such is not the case for the guitar.
if there is a point in technique where it doesn't matter anymore, then why is there such a large gap between yamashita and almost everybody else?
