to transform a signal from the time domain to the frequency domain. I also understand how to apply this to music and this in no way corrupting music but adding a whole new life to it. I am against people using electronics to alter music so that people with no talent can make music with the simple intention of making a quick buck. People who use "auto tune" or whatever various pitch correcting methods to sound like a professional artist when in real life they are not.

By the way this should be read bottom to top to make sense. electronics can be considered music too. A Wha pedal or a flanger can add life and emotion to a composition that would sound plain or dull without. Adding chorus or reverb and delay also adds another dimension to the piece. You are not corrupting the piece by adding electronic input. I come from a math and science background and I fully understand the concept waves and how they interact and using Fourier Transforms ...

It's a matter of preference. I love playing classically but there are a lot of thing you can do on an electric that you cannot quite do on a classical guitar. I have played an acoustic with steel and nylon strings. I prefer steel strings because I like the feel better and I love the tone. It is my personal preference. I have studied many different variations of music and I have been playing for 15 years so I beleive I can give an educated opinion on the subject.

I know this is bringing an old topic back but what about Yngwie Malmsteen or Michael Romeo. John Petrucci should be considered in that list. They are all really fast players who have roots from classical music. They play a lot of classical arpeggios and they have an insane knowledge on musical theory. They know their instrument inside and out. I grew up playing classical then acoustic and now electric.
