@rmoor83 You do realise that 4ZZZ and RRR have had decades to build a supporter base? And in that time they weren't interrupted by the worst global recession since the depression.
FBi is, in relative terms a fledgling station, one which is gaining traction as time rolls on. To compare them with older stations shows a bit of irresponsibility on your part.
On your other point, the number of paid staff at FBi is consistent with other community stations as a proportion of the number of volunteers.
The comments below are written by a pair of misinformed jerks stationed in some irrelevant peanut gallery.
@alanbstard4 "Change the demography"... what, to go after the same market as Austereo or Triple J? It's not about being the most successful station on the dial, it's about representing a demography that was previously not catered for. Plus going after the same slice of pie as other stations isn't exactly good business acumen is it, champ.
global financial crises blamed because these clowns can't run it properly. The problem is youth have so many choices and what they are playig and marheting is not popular, otherwise they would have no financial problem
Why would anyone throw a lot of money into it
Next time this happens There is no turning back. It's gone
I suggest members get rid of the management and change the demography you ar after to survive
FBi has been hit by irresponsible financial management - you simply can't pay as many staff as they do. All other community radio stations are doing fine - Triple R and 4ZZZ included (the other community stations that The Presets thanked in their speech). And The Vines won an ARIA before FBI opened.
They need to start behaving like a community radio station or face more financial turmoil in the future.
