You know, of course, that among animals baring the teeth is not a smile but a sign of aggression or dominance. Maggie might only play the game just so long before she takes a hunk out of the guy with the camera. I think the whine is because she knows this is wrong -- to display aggression when none is intended or needed. A seriously conflicted dog.
