@Cultureboy "For the poor you have always with you: but me you have not always. " The Mass is about Jesus, and he deserves the finest. To think that this is about the guys wearing the vestments is to have a very shallow understanding of what this is all about.

I have known two archbishops, a bishop, an archdeacon, a canon chancellor, and a canon procurator. In my more religious days, I have donated to churches two high mass sets (one in gold and substantial gold-thread embroidery, and another in purple) with fabrics designed by Sir Ninian Comper, in addition to a few scattered copes and chasubles. You really haven't lived until you have seen prelates prance around in their vestments in front of the mirrors in their vestries admiring themselves. HAHA

Just marvellous..hope this Bishop receives the Red Hat in due course and I do mean the Red Hat not just the biretta .

@olmmbill "The "finest" that we can give to Jesus is service to the poor and rejected of this world, with whom he identified himself " Any source from Scripture that says social service and not WORSHIP is the highest honor that could be given to God? Disgusting. Jesus should just have founded a Philanthropic organization instead of a religion that primarily concerned with SOULS.

@TiagoSGD "Of course he is not part of the Church" What a load modernist crap reeking of liberation theology. In the old testament the vestments were made of the finest material available at that time: pure linen dyed, with gold for trimmings. GOD HIMSELF ordained that the priests of the old covenant approach him with such finery or DIE, how much more for the priests of the NEW COVENANT who offer not mere animals but the very Body and Blood of God's Son?

How wonderfully Catholic. Thank God for our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI and the Reform of the Reform!
And Happy Easter to everyone! Scimus Christum surexisse a mortuis vere: tu nobis, victor Rex, miserere. Amen. Alleluia!

@olmmbill Lol what a stupid comment lol. It's no wonder your church as gone downhill. All you care about is the poor. If you care so much why don't you give up your home and make it into a homeless shelter. Become like St Francis if you truly care about the poor. Pathetic you are the same just like liberals nothing but a cancer in this world and use the poor and "social justice" to hide your true nature. And this is comming from a non-catholic.

Who is he coming down the aisle for as a bride or as a princess???

@catholicstory Be silent!
The capa magna does indeed represent the finery of the world, its power and prestige. That is why after his entrance wearing it, the prelate is publicly stripped of this finery and humbled before the congregation. Then, vestment by vestment, the bishop is clothed in the new man of which St. Paul speaks, including the baptismal alb, the dalmatic of charity, the stole of pardon and the chasuble of mercy.

Disgusting. This is a throwback to the days when corrupt bishops were princes, lived in palaces, amassed great wealth and enslaved people.

@catholicstory Wow. Bishops never "enslaved" people. Mind your tongue.
