If you have to to drop the revs to make the oil pressure light come on there is still oil in the system. Besided, with an old car and engine under light load everything has worn together and there is usually enough buildup on the bearings to protect it for some time. Would have liked to see him put his foot down and accelerate through the gears. Wouldn't likely last long then.
