  • VEILSIDE VERY-SEXY!!

  • It looks like the 5sfe head because the 3sgte's head, the intake faces the front bumper, on the 5s the intake faces the wheel well.

I'm assuming he's using the 3sgte exhaust manifold and in the old days we considered that to be a 5sfte :-p. 5sgte would be a 3sgte head swap.

  • It looks like a 5S-FE maked turbo no like an 5S-GTE maked using a 3S-GTE

  • lol bumper

  • That would be the NA 3S-GE. Not the turbocharged 3S-GTE. Except i some race versions that had over 400 bhp.

  • Looks like you might be right, good sir. I can't find a reliable source, but my impression was that the 3sgte redline was at least 7000 (though could be different for different generations).

  • Yes, but the 3S-GTE never reved as high as the NA 3S-GE. It doesn't have to. The turbo makes more HP because of it's increase in torque, not because of high revs. Increese the boost and thereby the torque gets you even more hp.

The highest reving stock street engine only reved to 6200 rpm to achieve over 250 hp

  • I don't doubt that it is. I probably wasn't very clear though. The F head and stock ecu are designed for low-mid torque for daily driving, whereas the G head and stock ecu perform poorly below about 3500 rpm but keep making power well past 6300.

If this person really went through all the hassle of swapping the top half of the engine, then turbocharging it, they should go the final step. It's not a waste, but that engine has so much more potential.

  • It's turbo charged. You don't need a lot of revs to gain power from a turbo.

  • Sounds like a 5sfte? Either that or it's really a 5sgte but running the stock ECU with the 6345 rpm redline. Need to raise the redline to make all of that time/money spent swapping everything really pay off.

  • oh ok. I am also thinking about buying a N/A MR2 for a future project and to daily drive while I build up my Celica.
