This week we saw a massive protest online and on the phones to let Congress know that SOPA and PIPA will not be accepted by the people. Even the mainstream media and the Republican Presidential candidates were forced to take notice. Alyona brings attention what just one day of protest did. The push to protest SOPA and PIPA also didn't happen over a single day, for months we detailed every blog, legal scholar, think tank, and major tech firm that started chiming in, that put the wheels in motion for what January 18th would become. But it was January 18th, blackout day, that made all the difference.

  • you know what sucks? that they saw people making their voices heard and what did the government did? they destroyed megaupload and did exactly what would happen if the law passed even though the law never passed, so its a very bitter sweet victory.

they dont give a fuck at some point they wont take the decensy to make up stupid fucking laws to do this kind of shit.

  • International SOPA called ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.

    check wikipedia

  • Come on Alyona, how many times do you have to say the phrase "Aside from Ron Paul" before you actually come out and support him? He's the only candidate that's gonna make real changes and he needs all the help he can get from the media.

  • @MattRodrig

    I can agree with that.

  • She's a good example that people can be beautiful and smart..

  • Is that meat in the fire?

Maybe you guyz should look into this. is it true that those that created p2p software. Are now the ones behind SOPA? Same ppl how ironic

  • It was so effective because some companies with money fought it-big ones. They couldn't just ignore it like OWS. Still a win.

  • @heavytransit megaupload was taken down for money laundering they payed people to break the law and give incentives bringing in copyrighted material. they deserve to be destroyed but the fbi should have given a warning first sp people actually know what happened.
