whats different? how about the windows xp style startmenue,the fact that you dont have find and install codecs to watch a video or play music, the fact that you can go to the linux mint portal and download all of the apps,games etc that you need and many other things.

@AndreaFranchitti, yes its true,it doesnt need antivirus/antispyware software and you dont need to defrag your harddrive, i would still run a firewall just to be sure.

linux has over 800 viruses and mac has around the same amount.

So please stfu and know what you are talking about.

Oh by the way I rather have close to no chance of getting a virus then probably going to get a virus by going on the net.

"you dont have find and install codecs to watch a video or play music," umm *raises hand* I did :) most linux's don't have the majority of popular codecs installed by default either (including mp3!) That's why so many linux users get VLC media player (but this is just as much an option for many windows users)

while the statement "well only a few people use linux" does show some lack of general knowledge of linux the statement "MOST people use windows" IS true, whether we like it or not...(for now)

Lol linux does not have the virus black hole of the net called ActiveX.

Fewer oppened doors means less viruses on linux... This is something that's difficult for microsoft to understand...

Well, no really. This is because like mac, linux is used by so few people hackers don't bother creating viruses and spyware that work on linux. It is possible for linux to contract a computer virus but it's almost a sure thing that it wont happen. Just be careful browsing anyway and you should be fine.
