Yo yo yo yo YO.
Whats the BEST protein source for YOU to eat? Short answer: eggs. But WAIT I'm going to explain the best sources of protein and how to determine which one is right for you to help you build muscle and blast fat!
So sit TIGHT. First, ignore the hype up supplement companies have about supposedly new products with uber bioavailability that will add a third arm, 18 inches to your neck and bark like a Doberman. Supplement companies are out for your money money moneyyyy.
Standard whey is still your number one go to source for a transportable protein. Now, how do you measure how good a protein source is? There have been several ways to measure protein sources and rank them. Three most common are protein efficiency ratio (PER), net protein utilization (NPU), and biological value (BV).
- Protein efficiency ratio is calculated by the amount of weight gained per gram of protein ingested. These calculations are generally performed on laboratory animals.
- Net protein utilization measures how well the body uses nitrogen in protein that is consumed.
- Biological value measures how well the body utilizes nitrogen that is absorbed.
I have a chart in the description that I shitly transposed into this video to show you how different sources of protein rank. As you can tell, eggs pretty much ranks as the best source of protein. Its utilized more efficiency, its easier to digest, and is absorbed very fast. And just mentioning soy shrinks my nut sack.
Don't get me wrong, I love my protein powder *sniff my nose*, but I feel eggs are pretty under rated.
Heres an important point, except for eggs and whey protein powder, all other protein sources have an INCOMPLETE amino profile.
This means, like a jigsaw puzzle, you have to combine a VARIETY of protein sources to get a complete amino profile. Thats why vegan sources usually suck because they lack quite a few amino acids.
Bottom line, consume lots of egg whites, and get a good variety of other protein. Remember get protein any way you can. That means hunting the neighbourhood cat, so be it. In the COMMENT SECTION, I want to hear what your FAVOURITE protein source is. My favourite protein source? Breasts? And lots of them. I'm talking the chicken breast variety, ya dig what I'm saying?
