The creepy music as Salamander descends to the underground was reused in Alien when Tom Skerritt goes into the ventilation shafts to meet his doom.
Salamander's duping of the underground "survivors" is straight out of South Park and Cartman's similar ploy to fool Butters into believing there's been a zombie apocalypse.

This subplot with the people in the bunker is straight out of left-field...reminds me a bit of the spaceship part in Invasion of the Dinosaurs, really catches you out.
