  • ELVIS COMPARED TO SAM COOKE NO COMPARISON WITH THIS SONG THESE MEN SPEAK TO YOUR SOUL WITH THEIR VOICES ,ELVIS HAHA PLEASE DONT INSULT REAL GOSPEL SINGERS

  • It pains me to hear people arguing about who was the best. It is not a contest, it is praising God. Sam Cooke, Elvis, Mahalia were all wonderful singers, Different, but all wonderful. Some may like one more than the other, but they are all good. Just be grateful that we had these different people to sing for us so that we all could have something that would inspire us.

  • I love Elvis (and Mahalia, too); but this version with a 20 year old Sam Cooke presented in his first major recording is just incandescent. Paul Foster is simply brilliant here - he sounds like he instinctively knew he was beginning a very rare and extraordinary combination with the greatest soul singer of all time. The joy in Paul's voice says everything.

  • fucking awasome voices!!!

  • @daxeboy9 So you're saying that she (Mahalia) dreamed of sounding better than Elvis. We kinda already figured that one out. But....thanks for the info.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Mahalia Jackson in her sleep sounded better than Elvis, Elvis learned something from black folk and that was how to mimic them.

  • @ShooterKitty The heart isn't there? Good thing I judge the music I listen to by the way it sounds...not by how much "heart" someone has. LOL

This version isn't bad, it's just not in the same league as Elvis' is. No one sung gospel as great as Elvis did....no one.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I have to disagree. Elvis' is way too slow and the heart isn't there. Sam and the Soul Stirrers is all heart. The tempo is much better too.
