Save Mr. Tim Latham, Lawrence High School History and Government Teacher

A group of Lawrence High School students asks the Lawrence School Board to renew the contract for Tim Latham, a government and history teacher, who may be more conservative than liberal Lawrence, Kansas.

America has become a frightening place to live. If you don't tow the 'progressive' line, you stand a good chance of being oppressed and marginalized. Free speech is no longer allowed due to the oppressive restrictions of 'political correctness'. America used to be the hope of the world, where can we go now to enjoy freedom?

I am a teacher and I agree. You can tell your kids what you believe if they ask you a question. I wonder if he was indoctrinating the kids. I had an AP Government teacher who was like that.

I don't think that Mr. Latham would appreciate some of these comments.. In fact, I think he would be the first to tell you how great Lawrence, Kansas is. He's always said that he loves this city, but there are always some people who cannot open up to opposite viewpoints. This happens on both sides of the political spectrum.

While he is conservative, I've never seen Mr. Latham push any agenda. He's a good man- conservative or otherwise. He's certainly won the respect of this liberal student.

First they fire a teacher for being too liberal (sorry, reassign) then they let go one for being to conservative? What about the history teacher I had who never taught history and just spouted his political views everyday? Now he should have been fired. I think it is best when teachers do not bring their political beliefs into the classroom.

Thanks tre for the comment you made. I was just reading some of the comments here and what you said was so true about enduring and not to run. Although sometimes extremely difficult to do we must stand strong in the victory of Jesus. Sometimes it's the people closest to us or call themselves Christian that give us a hard time but God's got a plan for each individual and we are accountible for what He's telling us to do in our own lives. I had a history teacher during the last presidency who said that "Bush is the antichrist." The antichrist is much worse than Hitler. When the school boars heard about what he said, they quoted the freedom of speech ammendment and the teacher wasn't even reprimmanded.

Let the Persecution begin! Finally Christians are really being persecuted in the last 10 yrs. More so in the last couple of years. Paul never said to run from persecution, but to endure it. Jesus gets the last laugh and we will be at His table!

Lawrence, Kansas the liberal wacko corner of Kansas where the homosexual agenda is crammed down everyones throat and liberals reign supreme. More people like Mr. Latham need to stand up and teach the youth of America what it is like to be a true American. The people who should be fired are the Human Resources Director and the other teacher who complained about his conservtive website.
