Over 7 minutes into the 1st period, the Devils get it started. After winning the faceoff, and some work along the boards, Patrik Elias tries to backhand it in front, but is blocked. The puck comes to Petr Sykora who backhands it blindly in front for Jason Arnott who redirects the puck past Ed Belfour to give the Devils the 1-0 lead!

I was at that game live close to the Dallas side of the ice and Belfour was lit up like a Christmas tree that night. It was amazing. The arena was electric. At the end of the game, Belfour blamed some cold medicine he took for not being sharp. EL OH EL!
