It would be amazing if a sense of business acronym and self control was exerted over the whole proceedings. it was a pretty thoughtless, selfish endeavour which I bet some of the poorer regions in Dubai resent. Just as my country resents politicians caring about bigger areas then small shanty run down areas.. As it goes I think although impressive in terms of engineering and structural planning it is a act of egomania.
@LivingInDubai9 I don't recall actually comparing anything, both countries are morally wrong.. To say what Dubai has done is "Very little" is plain ridiculous when you consider to 25 million spent on a firework display was that very little? No very little correct me if I'm wrong is like erecting a small blue plaque in honour of a great composer.. That's very little.. To waste 60 billion isn't very little at all..
The UAE is a small and VERY YOUNG country. but WOW I am IMPRESSED ! in just little period, they accomplished A LOT!!! They came through many challenges in this harsh and deserted environment. To see what they have done is just AMAZING.
they came through lots of other troubles, and I believe that they will be able to get through this crisis . It is a learning experience for them, thats for sure. They are working hard to restructure and pay their debts.
excuse me but comparing what you listed here to what another country have caused to MILLIONS of innocents (children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters - just a massive number of families) , what Dubai has done is VERY little!!!!
oh and regarding the what Dubai *owes* sorry to say this but DAH. the GLABAL crisis have effected the GLOB, Big organizations have collapsed ..
True, but instead exploited everybody who worked on the building with a wage of oh £3 an hour which was fair.. Oh and lets not mention the 60 billion Dubai now owes the world banks, including a cool 12 billion to England.. Still it is impressive fairplay..
Dubai people, at least, are wasting their money (if that what you want to call it) inside their city .. such peaceful people . I am living here. and totally LOVE it
