Venice, California is all about looking. Sand and light and someone trying to catch it. A performance artist reflects Larry Bell's structures of light and our own too easily lost histories.

  • Thank you. The photos were taken during a back-to-back marathon video shoot of artists for a project called "The White Road." My friend Tom Jewett shot all my videos (except the ones I did). He's in the pics.

It was May, 1981, just before Larry's "New Works" exhibit opened at L.A. Louver.

Larry and Suzan's pics are on the same roll of film/negatives which brought back how everyone's energies overlapped in this crazy, joyous way. We were so (under the spell of) Altman in those days. (And Filmex)

  • Beautiful, reminiscent- please tell me what years these shots were taken?
