Here's some video I shot of the Midwest Central Railroad during the 2009 Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. This video features the diesel-hydraulic switcher #14, which was built in the 1960's. Due to engine #16 having problems with "clinkers" in its firebox, #14 was put into service on 16's passenger train for the entire afternoon on Friday. This was the first time I ever saw this engine running outside of the yard, let alone pulling a train! It was pretty interesting to see, and I went around the grounds and caught the unit passing by at many different locations.

  • I love the Plymouth

  • Love that horn. Very cool post.

  • Love the sound of the engine in that, and the horn... well... a bit over kill, but cool.

  • Pretty big airhorn for such a little critter. LOL! Seriously, that locomotive looks and seems to run nicely. Kudos to the museum for keeping this old Plymouth in operating condition.

  • This is the train that nine usually pulls, although in one video, nine is shown pulling the yellow train with the 55 caboose in one pass then switching back to this train.

  • They have 2 diesels and a gas locomotive

  • Cool vid! I didn't even know they had a diesel

  • what kept the 16 from pulling the train was blower problems

  • It ran on Thursday, too, while the 16 was having air problems.

  • Great video 5 stars and has been added to my favorites
