There are special moments that pull everything we have learned into focus. When theory, practice, experience and talent all come to one sharp point -- a decision that shapes a definitive course of action. When it's no longer an issue of what can be done, but of what you will do.

However, if it is only a "lecture based" version they upload for edx then it would simplify a lot. I mean if it was just lectures on business courses, while it would be helpful to learn the subject, it doesnt show off the working of the case method. I'd really love to know what the case method is really all about. So hopefully they do both, I mean upload a session of their class and maybe an edx course too :).

So, in an online model, we would have to divide the students into groups. The harvard classroom I hear is about 90. If this is opened as a free course, we are looking at hundreds of thousands of students. Each group would need a teacher. Each teacher would only be able to handle so many students. Plus, there are only so many teachers that are available, then there is the problem of time-zones.

Well ideally I would love that too. To actually be able to learn a full fledged course from HBS online. If I didn't know any better, the faculty might be thinking in the back of their heads how to implement it in an "online environment". But the biggest problem for HBS courses would be to successfully implement the case method. Unlike other courses, where its mainly one-way interaction, case method demands the whole class to participate in it.

I'd really like to see what goes on in the classroom in its complete continuity. Give an intro about the data you have given to the HBS students .........then tape the entire classroom discussion. The edits and voice-overs are all aesthetically pleasing but it kinda puts a lot of holes in the "big picture" that I'm trying to paint in my head about the case method. You dont necessarily have to put an entire subject. Just a session, to actually get the raw feeling of the method.
