@blackeneddove I agree at the part about the highest singing female at the moment, although there is a south american soprano ( I forgot the name) who hits B-flat also very often. But the problem with dondalska is that she almost rape the music, there arent legato phrases, staccati leadind to b-flat or higher are just the most awful noises I have ever heard-here check at 3.59....oh my god.../watch?v=rFc7O9OlhQk

Ok, I listened to Katarzyna some more... she really is quite unbelievable. I am speechless. Haven't heard anyone for a while who just made me want to stop singing altogether because the were at THAT level. (I'm a mezzo and have always envied sopranos ^_^) Katarzyna is incomparable. I don't think there's anyone else living that can sing that high.

That being said, I still love Diana Damrau to no end. I love her interpretation of this song, and pretty much every song I've heard her do.

OMG! Thanks for sharing her! Her voice is so super high! I prefer the color of Diana's voice more, but I do believe Katarzyna has the highest voice I've ever heard!!

I too recently saw both Diana and Joyce DiDonato in Le Conte Ory courtesy of the Met's live transmissions here in France. They were both wonderful as also was Juan Diego Florez as the count. Quite unforgettable ! I was particularly impressed by Joyce's acting - a totally convincing young man ! I loved her to bits !! For fans of Diana, have you checked out her Queen of the Night here - Fantastic !!

I just had the pleasure of seeing Diana Damrau in "Le Comte Ory" via the HD Met broadcast. She is unbelievable. And she & Joyce DiDonato are absolutely perfect together. I appreciate what some people have posted about how some singers appeal more to some people than others. I have read negative opinions about Joyce DiDonato online which boggles my mind - I have seen Joyce 5 times in concert now & there is, in my opinion, no one better. But not everyone is as crazy about her as I am.
