When Faith Doubts
Doubters Anonymous -- Part 3
May 4, 2008 ~ Mark 9:17-22
Mark 9:17-22 (NIV)
"A man in the crowd answered, "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not." "O unbelieving generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me." So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?" "From childhood," he answered. "It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."
Why Do Many Of Us Doubt?
God Doesn't Do Things Like We Would Do

Many People Around Us Express Doubts

What Do I Do When I Have A
Diluted, Polluted, Partial, Faltering Faith?
1. Be Honest About My Faith Struggles.
"The father instantly cried out, "I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!" Marks 9:24 (NLT)
"I believe. Help me with my doubts!" (MSG)
2. Act On The Faith I Have
"For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead." James 2:26 (ESV)
What Does Real, Committed, Deep, Sincere Faith Look Like?
Daniel 3:14-18 (NLT)
"Nebuchadnezzar said to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you refuse to serve my gods or to worship the gold statue I have set up?
"I will give you one more chance to bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?"
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn't, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up."

---Maître, je t'ai amené mon fils car il est sous l'emprise d'un esprit qui le rend muet. 18 Partout où cet esprit s'empare de lui, il le jette par terre, de l'écume sort de la bouche de l'enfant, qui grince des dents; puis il devient tout raide. J'ai demandé à tes disciples de chasser ce mauvais esprit, mais ils n'ont pas pu le faire. 19 Jésus s'adressa à eux et leur dit:
---Peuple incrédule! Jusqu'à quand devrai-je encore rester avec vous? Jusqu'à quand devrai-je vous supporter? Amenez-moi l'enfant! 20 On le lui amena. Mais, dès qu'il vit Jésus, l'esprit mauvais agita convulsivement l'enfant et le jeta par terre. Celui-ci se roula sur le sol, de l'écume à la bouche. 21 ---Depuis combien de temps cela lui arrive-t-il? demanda Jésus à son père.
---Depuis qu'il est tout petit. 22 Souvent même, l'esprit mauvais le pousse à se jeter dans le feu ou dans l'eau pour le faire mourir. Si tu peux faire quelque chose, aie pitié de nous et viens à notre aide!

@StayStupid4Christ I agree, praying doesn't work. Scientific studies disprove it, as does common sense.

trust in God to kill the sinners

answer: those people that were praying weren't real Christians. the ones that were, got out alive. the firemen and cops that were real Christians made it out fine. Hopefully, the children of those dead heathens will realize why their daddy was killed and stop 'educating themselves out of a relationship from christ. kids need to stop going to school and need to learn the lord. put down books and pick up the only book that matters.
god meant to kill their daddys and they should know that.
