The ending theme was very beautiful. Jack Palance's portrayal really let the viewer feel the emotions Dracula was feeling.

Not to tread on the current theme here, but there have been many great Dracula portrayors in the past, as well as some smelly ones. However, no one has captured the Dracula that was Bela Lugosi. He is a god.

@firstwaveintact the only adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula that comes close is the BBC movie Count Dracula with Louis Jourdan. But I admit that the best Dracla in my opinion is Christopher Lee, but there are numerous actors that put there own interpretation of Dracula.

In the book Dracula's just less powerful during the day which is why he usually picks that time to rest. Sunlight doesn't kill him though. Nosferatu started that and it became an untrue cliche and while an interesting idea, it doesn't mean it should be considered fact. Here it seems to weaken him, but even then it doesn't kill him, which is fine in it's own universe.
As for being the "worst" Dracula film, it's not even close. There's a number of versions that are worse.

that's Curly!

This film sucks -.-'' a vampire into the sun light should die -.-'' no wheeze and run ._. worst dracula movie ever made !!

@NuageSilencieux I Agree With You Completely!

Nosferatu looks like a freaking rat! There is no eroticism there. Coppola's is his own remake of the whole novel-what with Oldman with a beehive haircut and Hopkins playing Van Helsing as a neurotic?

You mean you like Francis Ford Coppla's Dracula; that is what is should be called.

O filmizinho mais mal feito que já vi na minha vida!
This is by far the worst adaptation. Where's the eroticism of Dracula, the best by far are the two Nosferatu films and Coppola's. Than Legosi and Christopher Lee's versions.

What makes you think it should be needed? Have you even read the book? Have you even seen the original Nosferatu?
Lugosi will always be Dracula. Even Villaries was great. Gary Oldman's character was great, but that character didn't feel so Dracula-like.

Thanks so much for putting this here! I have only soundtrack! My comments
1. Chris Lee is very overrated, altough the Hammer films are great.
2. 1992 version has breathtakingly gorgeous fruitcake look some adore - like me! - and some hate, GH was good, Winona and Lucy looked dazzling in those dresses and I think it is very enjoyable. It´s not horror but Horror is nowadays sick crap anyways!

2. The 1992 version was obviously a rip off from this one but I blame the directors mostly because of my dislike for that movie. Dracula was too soft. You almost wanted to sympathize with him, which is way wrong to do. Jack Palance had the same basic story but you see his pain as he remembers his lost love, but then again quickly get back to the evil Dracula we so much enjoy seeing.

Hi! I have seen one non-Hammer Dracula, El Conde Dracula, and although it was directed by trash expert Jesus I-should-not-direct-even-traffic Franco it was noble failure. About softness... I think Dracula who gave babies to his women, vampirized Lucy and murdered poor lunatic Renfield was hardly soft, haa! (Albeit I think Vlad the Impaler was sick piece of crap and Count Dracula should not sullied with him, but I digress!!)

Yes that's the one.
I just think Palance and Curtis were better at balancing Dracula.
