"I sometimes wonder if on winning independance, we shouldn't have levelled Dublin and started from scratch with rebuilding our nation. Impressive though many of its fine buildings and streets may be, places like Kilmainham and Dublin can but remind the historically sensitive of what the Pale once was. A stroll round Dublin can be a depressing exercise, but the bottom line is that we cannot and must not dwell in the past". R. Kavana

  • when did ireland "win" independance? we are still occupied by england.

  • I like this song alot, it goes so well with the pictures, especially the period black and white film. Irish history just fascinates me, this era in particular. I often wonder just how many people are left that actually remember the 1916 uprising, even now I would think there are some dwindling few that can. So it is worth remembering that it is still not yet pure history.

  • Nä, att gråta hjälper inte.
