I took the original mp3 for the recording of the Edison Doll and cleaned it up. - iZotope RX noise reduction (pops and denoise) - Logic exciter and compressor - more iZotope RX noise reduction (denoise)
That's the problem ! Surface noise and lo-fi or no-fi are factors. The earliest recordings were full of surface roar (surface not mirror-smooth from the start, surface further corroded by acids in skin oils in handling, wear from repeated play)
Its interesting, the mankind took less than 100 years from lift the first plane to reach the moon. But it took more than 100 years to achieve the HQ Audio.

People don't understand what she is saying because there is WAY too much noise reduction on the restoration. Its far too artifacty.
