Dr. Robert Sapolsky discusses his work as professor of biology and neurology at Stanford University and as a research associate with the Institute of Primate Research at the National Museum of Kenya. His enviable gift for storytelling led the New York Times to print, "If you crossed Jane Goodall with a borscht-belt comedian, she might have written a book like A Primate's Memoir." Dr. Sapolsky's account of his early years as a field biologist. He is sure to dazzle and delight with tales of what it means to be human.

  • He was Brilliant in Zeitgeist Moving Forward also... His experience is all so relevant at describing the complete inadequacies supported and artificially maintained by our extremely destructive socio-economic system...

EVERYONE should watch that Zeitgeist movie, it's superb!!!

    Huge credit to Prof. Sapolsky

  • "A STRIDENT ATHEIST!!!!!!!" :-D

  • Thank you!!

  • He answers you at about 59:00.

  • 36:00 "Thomas Mann writing thousand word novels." hehe :) He seldom makes this kind of rinky dink slip (is it a slip?), although often he skirts the clunky edges. Charisma with a scientific face... content fit for a big tent, for all.

  • About the empathy part. Don't some animals express love and empathy for different species already, such as Koko the gorilla and the kitten?

  • The first Zeitgeist film isn't anything like Moving Forward. The original film wasn't even intended for the large scale distribution it experienced. The original has since been updated and corrected, and Moving Forward, as well as Addendum, focused specifically on the monetary-market system, human behavioral and developmental psychology, and the military industrial complex.

  • no worries on the bio thing. yeh, noticed the person you replied to, and just wanted to support your statement. glad to know that you were able to get him to think again :)

  • Well I didn't research his bio that thoroughly. Also the comments you are alluding to were responses to tylerh5k, who went into typical anti-evolutionist-rant mode without properly examining the lecture. He did back out of his statements and ad-hominems though after being persuaded to take a closer look :)

  • but yes, you're right - he's definitely suspicious of the 'JAM' perspective on humans....

  • actually, his degree is a BA in biological anthropology....

  • it's weird seeing the good doctor all dressed up for once
