Ross is also completely out to lunch in suggesting that large body size somehow prevents evolution. He says you want small animals that don't eat much so they're "less susceptible to changes in the environment". Good grief. It's environmental change that drives evolutionary adaptation. If an animal is not affected by changes in its environment, it has no need to adapt.
I also like how Ross completely ignores the fantastic fossil record of horse and whale evolution.

Ross is completely wrong about population size. It's in large populations that beneficial mutations are more likely to drowned out by gene flow. It's in small populations where speciation events are likely to occur.
