clinton engine

mid 1950's clinton 3hp engine with an antique belt driven 110v 60 cycle AC generator. I am not sure as to how many watts it is capable of but it starts easy and runs good. this is a cold start. my grandpa used this generator to power a battery charger to charge up the crawler batteries away from the house

i have one very similiar.

I can't get it going. It has spark and gas. However i did get a sput out of it.

@Hallaran this particular engine i belive has very low hours on it. it was bought new to run that generator. i figure this because the original paper mounting template is still under the engine! runs like a swiss watch and starts on the first pull religiously!

@ToddInLN52254 do you have access to a serial# list or something? i have a 4 clinton engines this one runs great, another ive had running but its got carb and mag issues currently. the other 2 are seized tight, and one of those 2 threw its rod through the side of its block. it was an aluminum vetical shaft mower engine

@1944johndeerel I think there is a way to tell where it was built via the serial # . If it was built in Maquoketa,Iowa, My grandfather ground cranks there for 15 years!

i really think this engine has very low hours on it. it just runs way too nice for a 1950's engine. its way more reliable than alot of newer engines!
