  • Dear Matt, Beautiful job, effortless. Your technique is a pleasure. I see from the comments you got that everybody agrees with me. So --well done. However --I wonder what you would make of my question: Is it possible to be "too effortless"? Too facile? "Facile" means "done w. little effort or difficulty. Yes, you make Bluesette sound easy; but "facile" also means "arrived at w/o due care, effort..." Forgive my seeming "hypercriticality". Again, beautiful, fabulous.

  • hi, thanks, I understand your point, but believe me, it takes plenty of effort, even if it doesn't show! On the other hand, I've found that to play with good feel and especially good timing, one should play at a level that is still comfortable enough to achieve that. Of course it's also a matter of preference and style, this is just mine.

  • hey this is great stuff, but why not play with a real group? at times the comping doesn't go with the lead. with a live band, it just sounds better

  • Dear Matt, this is the first time I hear you and I appreciate your technique and the feeling made by your interpretation and the particular way you choose to play it. I also made an interpretation in a Parisian Jazz way. Again thank you for sharing your songs.
