Best Musical in Budget I winner South Park High School's 2007 Gene Kelly Award performance. "The Temple" from Jesus Christ Superstar.

***I'd like to point out that this is just a segment performed at the awards ceremony without the set or props. The choreography had to be changed. In the actual production, Jesus didn't push anyone. He destroyed tables.

I would also like to say that I put this on YouTube not to be critiqued, but so my friends who were performing could see it, as it was not professionally taped.***

Watching this from the audience, I was terrified. Still very very good though.

It's not surprising that Jesus can get violent. The purpose of the musical was to introduce jesus as a human being, not necessarily as a messiah for a race of people. It's the audience to make up their minds on that; he's merely a human, with human faults and problems, take it or leave it.

Aw man. I live in South Park and I read about this in the good old "Park News." I really wanna watch, but it's not playing for me for some reason. Anyways, I'll keep checking back to see if it fixes itself. :)

So, for the record, everyone:

The point of this video isnt to be anti jesus, or anti ANYBODY, for that matter. In fact, the play itself emulates Jesus as a good, caring man. this scene is where hes angry of the goings on in his temple. But, thats besides the point. point is- THIS WAS POSTED SO THE PERFORMERS COULD WATCH THEIR PERFORMANCE!

Also, when he THROWS the people, he was supposed to throw tables. In the actual performance, he did. He destroyed the gambling. But, again, AWARD SHOW. They don't even have their full set, let alone all of theirs props. So, they needed to improvise.

Please, leave the poor kids alone.

ITS A HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMANCE RECORDED AND PLACED ON HERE FOR THE PERFORMERS IN THE SONG TO SEE WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE AT THE AWARD SHOW THEY WERE NOMINATED FOR (AND won, because they really are incredible)

ITS NOT FOR EVERYONE TO DISCUSS AND ARGUE FOR JESUS CHRIST SO HE CAN SEE YOU DEFENDED HIM AND BE MORE LIKELY TO GO TO HEAVEN, OR WHATEVER REASON YOU ALL HAVE FOR BITCHING AT THEM.

I think it's silly that people would complain about Jesus not being like his real self. Is this musical supposed to be taken seriously and I didn't get the memo?

They also didn't have news crews and cars and guns, but these are common elements of this musical.
