She was only the second Afro-American blues singer to make a record in 1920 shortly after Mamie Smith. Her real name was Lucille Nelson and she was born in Georgia in 1894. She continued to make records to the mid-1930s, then changed her profession. She died in 1970. Here is one of her successes on the rare Lincoln label.
