This is the regular activity every night for the last few weeks. Pushing and shoving getting a little more intense, but not to the extent of fin tearing yet! Interestingly they still stay in a tight pack sometimes even with the occasional aggression! This goes on usually during the night when only the small night light is on. They seem to be more active after lights out than in the day time!

Notice near the end of the video, the altum on the left darkening up very quickly when displaying to another!

  • 1:54 that's pretty cool colour change! Yeah you should try separate them according to your hunch feeling (male and female) in the hopes of getting a breeding pair.

  • @DiscusKev

I'll either need to get another tank, which is quite unlikely to happen, or reduce the number of altums. Very reluctant to do the latter, so am still exploring other options!

  • my altums are doing the same when the light go's out they have more activity than. by my altums are the female smaller than the males. your altums have all the same size. my englisch is not so good sorry, butt your altums are verry baeutifull.

  • @ruudanrochte

Thanks for your comments. Do you have any videos of your altums? How old are they? I'm not able to tell them apart, let alone differentiate the sexes! Even with the pushing and shoving, I cannot tell which is defending the territory, or if they are at all. I am beginning to feel that I may have to reduce the number of fish in order for any potential pair to assert any form of dominance!

  • great fish!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ongjj8 If both choice are not favorable then you could always buy a tank divider and separate the desired altum.

  • Hi Ong, can u contact me at cheeshuen at homail dot com? I am new to altum, got some query.
