  • She doesn't hold a candle to Sutton Foster. Anyone who saw Sutton's performance on the Tony's knows that Sutton's version is far superior to Kristin's relatively lame attempt. Just compare each opening "No canary in a cage for ME" That note (me) says it all when Sutton's belt is compared to Kristin's throw away.

  • Do you know the difference between a workshop performance versus the finished product? If you do then you realize there is a BIG difference in performances.

  • Yes, I do know the difference. However, whenever performers of the calibre of Foster and Chenoweth perform in a professional situation, they might not always give 100% (especially when the project is still in discovery/workshop). However, anyone who has worked with singers, is regularly exposed to Broadway musical theater and knows the greater body of work of each of these artists can tell by this performance that Kristin cannot touch Sutton on this song.

  • Horrible acoustics in this recording but I see we won't agree on this. Sutton is an amazing performer no doubt but Kristen is an a talent class all her own. Her career prove that. So, let's just agree to disagree.

  • That is because Sutton is a through-and-through belter, while Kristin is a coloratura soprano. Yes, Kristin can belt, but that is Sutton's strength and not Kristin's. It is therefore unfair to compare the two performances. Plus Sutton's performance was the finished product in the final version of the show, while Kristin's was a workshop performance. Therefore you cannot expect the same caliber of performance as you would in a fully staged Broadway show.

  • A coloratura with a soprano range is, in fact, a "coloratura soprano".

I'm a lyric and my range is soprano, thus I'm a "lyric soprano".

Yes there really is such a thing. ;p

Oh and some mezzo's can too....don't forget them.

  • I adore Kristin <33

  • I love both Kristin's AND Sutton's version! They're such great actresses! Two of my favorites! :)

  • everything about this is perfect.

  • I like the song much better in it's higher key haha

  • I like her version better.

Is that awful? Its a lot more angry and matches the feeling of the song, I think.

  • Kristen Chenoweth is gorgeous

  • i think this is in a little bit of a lower key? i absolutely love kristin AND sutton!

  • I'm so glad she backed out of Millie - Now we have SUTTON FOSTER! And Glinda was a much better role for her, and brought her so many good things! :)

  • How did you manage to get that??

  • I'm really sad she didn't do this, and did her sitcom Kristin instead! But she was great on that too. Thanks so much for posting!
