This video. like almost all "WW 2 Documentary" is flawed. It uses a lot of assorted stock footage which to someone who doesn't know seems realistic but to anyone who knows WW 2 armor is a jumble of Tanks from different time periods. One of Wittmans great tactical skills was turning his Tiger on its tracks. This was faster than the turret. He learned this in the Stug's in which he served prior to the Tiger.

I would like to know if these soviet tanks actually fired a shot during most battles. It's like he was up against toddlers almost. He described a soviet tank trained on him from a flank to his left, he not only had time to turn his tank, settle his gun on 100m and fire before this giant Stalin 1 could shoot, I wonder what the hell it was doing? 100m is pretty damn close.
Did he ever mention his damaged tank? Was it ever directly fired upon?
Seems him and his crew were far ahead of the game.

at 56 sec thats french tanks

Whole crew counts for it actually! Gunner is only gunner without the crew he is goner!

@Ravensteinzh Yes, that is correct. ^_^

@CommissarCain34 I would call the gunner the tank ace because he's the only person that would be destroying the enemy tank.

@Ravensteinzh continued part 4, read previous post first, In 1945 Soviet Tank losses were 13,746 totally destroyed out of which 7,554 were T-34's, the rest being heavies such as KV's and JS2's and TD's etc...SOURCE is "Soviet Casualties and Combat Losses In The Twentieth Century" by Col General G.F. Krivosheev, Greenhill Books, London, 1997, Pg 252-253 Table 95. Krivosheev puts German losses on the Eastern Front at 32,500 Tanks of all types including Tank Destroyers, it was a War of Attrition!!

@Ravensteinzh Continued part 3....Read previous 2 posts first, Soviet Tank losses in 1941 was 20,500 of all types, including 2,300 T-34's and 900 Kv-1 and KV-2 heavy, in 1942 15,100 Tanks were lost, including 6,600 T-34's and 1,200 KV-1 and KV-2 series. In 1943 Soviet tank losses were 23,500 tanks including 14,700 T-34's and 1,300 KV's, in 1944 23,700 tanks lost, including 13,746 T-34's,source "Soviet Casualties and Combat Losses" by Col General G.F. Krivosheev, Greenhill,London,Pg 253, table 95
so Germans were defeated because the enemy had too many tanks not because the enemy had some genial tactics

@x3ckid saw an interview with an old ww2 german tank commander.
he said on the western front, the germans had no fear of any allied tank.
they didnt say what eastern front tank they had caution for.
