  • @roygbiv8clubs Is the water there warm enough to swim in? Do you have many sharks?

  • MODER FOKER XD

  • With all respect - it amazes me how people hang around when this sort of un natural event takes place. There could have been a huge surge after this and washed you all away.

I think after Boxing Day 2004 there was an awareness of this stuff.

  • Well I live near the Waikato River, where many people drown because of the current, this flow is about 8 - 9 times faster, it's pretty scary stuff, there is no way if you fell in that you are going to stop until you are far out to sea.

  • "Waters at Tutukaka, a coastal dive spot near the top of the North Island, looked like a pot boiling with the muddy bottom churning up as sea surges built in size through the morning, sucking sea levels below low water marks before surging back." Feb 28, 2010 (results of Chile 8.8 earthquake)

  • wow a sprig tide at tuts is NEVER even close to that ae

  • I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Madness to hang around videoing!! From Nat Geo site: " If you see the ocean receding unusually rapidly / far it's a good sign that a big wave is on its way. Go to high ground immediately...Many people were killed by the Indian Ocean tsunami because they went down to the beach to view the retreating ocean.... Experts believe that a receding ocean may give people as much as 5 minutes' warning to evacuate the area....tsunamis can approach the shore as fast as 100 mph (160 kilometers / hour).."

  • Thats ca 8 knots, normally flows much slower

  • Do you mean those small whirlpools you see near the beginning of this video?
