Strobeshnik is a HDD clock. The digits are etched in the original platter and they're strobed from behind with leds. The HDD motor is driven by a custom circuit without feedback, hence poor startup performance and awful noise. Rotational feedback is provided by an IR LED/phototransistor pair near the place where the head arm formerly was.

  • Extra. Congratulations. What's the music playing at the end?

  • @eir3apps that's one of my own experiments, I can't reall remember how even I came up with this but I was keeping it for something where it would fit. Like end titles :)

  • @vaseemmehrancp thank you! Your educated opinion is much appreciated.
