RV Owners Defrauding Mass. by registering in Montana

FOX 25 Boston News - http://www.myfoxboston.com - Some owners of expensive recreational vehicles are defrauding Massachusetts out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by registering their RVs in Montana and avoiding state and local taxes, a FOX Undercover investigation has found.

Investigators with state Inspector General Gregory Sullivan's office have already identified 23 RVs owned by Montana companies and registered in Montana when in fact, Sullivan says, the vehicles should have been registered and taxed here.

"This is a tax fraud rip-off scheme. The victims are the other taxpayers in Massachusetts," Sullivan says.

 Massachusetts government is the one defrauding the people.

It sucks that people have to go to this length to save money on their rv's. I am considering an RV purchase in the near future and all the research I have done shows that the companies and taxes that are implied on RV's and Travel Trailers are outrageous. 40% on average on top of MSRP and other taxes will cost you a fortune.

It is unfortunate that Mass. owners need to do this, but with this economy, can you blame them?

Just my thoughts.
