this song is about alcohol and relationships. the loss of the self and justification of drunkeness in social situations. the live version will always suck without two singers, three guitarists, and a dedicated cricket sample.

yo darcy couldnt agree with you more ..last may i seen deftones at the house of blues with about 400 people and that was better than any tool perfect circle show...and the only reason he sounds bad is because the sound quality..go see them live and get in the middle of the acoustics of up fron like me and you will be in aww of his voice

duran it's not just that. Saturday Night Wrist took a long time because he has had problems with his throat for the longest. Look at his health. Yes he kicked the drug habit and got fat (heance the meaning of this song) but also hes has been getting bigger anyway slowly from album to album. Some singers like Aretha can do well bigger some whom mostly have to make the transition to weight gain usually are less as efficient in breathing techniques.

Actually he was much better in his early days now Chino has reaped the effects of too much smoking, drinking, and especially his weight gain. His weight is responsible for the shortness of breath he has and then when he forces the notes to much his throat gets all horse. He lost alittle weight and his ability to hold notes last alittle longer now. He is doing better now with the minor weight lost.

its not exactly about sounding awesome voice-wise, but more for giving the fans a wicked experience...go to a few shows like a hardcore fan and make sure your front row at all times...then say shit about his voice.
