  • Hi Isabella, could you please explain me, what exactly is "Petronella"? Is it the title of this song or the name of a style? As you can see, my name is Petronella as well, and I always connected it to the Latin "Petros" but maybe it origins really in this musik???? :)

  • @petronellaiz - Hi there. It is my understanding that Petronella refers to a form, or type of dance. I believe it is a Scottish country dance.

  • @isabellanakahara Yes there is a Scottish Country Dance that uses this tune. It's the very first dance in the very first Royal Scottish Country Dance Society book oddly enough.

  • @Statalyzer -Thank you for that info!

  • Is your video a mirror image, or do you play the other way round?

  • Mirror image... I wish I was that clever, lol!!

  • It is a Scottish country dance and also a formation or certain steps danced by one or two people together.

  • @isabellanakahara Thank you! It seems, I should learn this dance... lolol

  • No question mark after Scottish ! The tune was composed by Nathanael Gow, Edinburgh 1820. Father Neal and his 4th son Nathanael were the Kings of Contra in Edinburgh like later the Strauss Family as Kings of waltz in Vienna.

  • Oh.. neat... I love this stuff... I often have it playing around here for hours....
