Yes it's better it's a tongue and groove joint and is extremely strong like a one piece shell pretty much. It takes quite a bit more work and time but is the best way I have found to make the shells and it looks good when I ust different types of wood together. Thanks for your comment.

what have you done to the staves' edges (side where it is glued up) at 00:42 ?? have you done it so that the staves glue up better?? please answer

ok..in that case what do you think about drilling the holes when the staves are
glued together but the shell is not lathed? (poligon)
do you apply stain and the finish before or after drilling the holes?

@maryou93 I apply the finish before drilling the holes because I buff the finish and buffing doesn't work out well with the holes drilled first. So I have to drill after finishing to do it the way I want. It works out good for me..
