Sailing across the Georgia Straight towards Pender Island - the first "real" sailing trip in almost a year, so essentially the sea trials of all of the repair work from the previous summer - when suddenly the helm became unresponsive - we had lost steering! I dashed below and pulled up the floorboards to find the turnbuckle had untwisted itself somehow - I managed to get it back together and we sailed away without (many) further problems.

Visible is the main, double-reefed, the headsail lashed down and the staysail being trimmed. A batten is also obviously falling out, due to no decent batten retention on the sail. Not visible: the fact that this is my birthday! :D

Video by Miya Papaya, s/v TIE Fighter skippered by Drew Smith and crewed by Miya and Dan Ross.
