BY th way u talk about being scientific I am a Electrical Engineer and I not only belive in LORD RAM but also analyzed the deep roots and cause of deeds of lord Ram. so first do detail analysis and then talk. you non qualified self proclaimed scientific personal. what degree do you posses? nothing!

Since we cannot yet see the Lord in everything, we first practice seeing Him in at least one image (idol/picture) and then slowly expand our vision.

SECOND REASON, a person keeps a picture (hair) of a family or loved one in his wallet or office desk, not because they will forget their loved ones, but because it invokes memories, Love, joy associated for the loved one. Similarly with the idol/picture of God.

It is very easy to say that God is all-pervading and formless, but are we really able to meditate on that formless Reality? Are we able to experience that Truth? If Yes then you do not need a temple or idol or picture. But most of us however still need the support of an idol/picture/temple to prepare the mind, to make it subtle, pure and capable of seeing the highest truth.

Well about Bhagwati Jagran and other rituals, my family never practived all this so I cannot give my personal opinion but I will tell you what I have learnt at Chinmaya Mission.

If God is everywhere & all pervading then why temples & idols? If we can do mathematics mentally then why the need of pen, pencil paper or calculator? If a person could walk on 2 legs then why the need of crutches or stick? Even in management courses instruction is by way of graphs, charts, videos, slide shows etc..

The fact is Sanathan Dharam is the revelations of many Rishis (gurus). I have thought a lot over these stories too and came to the conclusion that just like Jatka tales and panchantatra stories, these epics too probably may be probably made up by some wise men to show common people the society rules prevelent at that particular time of the era (assuming that there was no legal government body to give regular Law and Order), not the current time.
