The Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Laboratory at Stanford University demonstrates autonomous valet parking. This Volkswagen Passat uses a night vision camera and cruise control radar (both currently available options on production vehicles) plus two small laser sensors to autonomously navigate parking lots, locate empty spaces, and park.

    there's a return button. so once you hit it, the car automatically drives to the place you told it to start looking for a parking spot :)

  • I think Stanford might have overlooked a critical issue here. If your thought it was hard to find your car in a large parking lot before, what happens when your car goes off and parks itself?
