Using only two pictures alternating back-and-forth and one for the end, I was able to create (somewhat like) a movie.

Note: As you can tell from several videos involving this most famous reunion show, I am literally obsessed with this concert.

Note: Oh, yeah. I also included the ending of "Back in NYC" from the concert.

  • Hackett was NOT invited, when he heard about the show he jumped a flight over at his own expense and gatecrashed the party. Unfortunately there was only time to rehearse 2 songs with him so the noodler played the whole gig.

  • @bublikespain Do you even know anything about Genesis? That's not what happened. He had a gig that same night, and flew over to England the second the show was over. Check your facts.

  • @genesiscrimsonmusiKc thats not what I read, obviously you and Steve are real close and you know everything OR you read something with a different spin on it. Either get Steve Hackett on here to clarify it or wind your neck in.

  • @bublikespain Well please send me the info that you've read. Because I've never heard anyone from the band say that Steve just went out on stage and started playing.

  • @gideonquinn are you serious? Steurmers a nice guy but he's just a yes man for the other 3 and creatively...well, whats he ever written except a few solo Collins co-writes. Hackett is respected worldwide by other great guitarists.

  • Steve intended to do the whole show but his flight was delayed & so he only managed to perform the encores. Daryl was a fair stand-in but he didn't capture the soul of Steve's playing. It was most certainly the best concert I have ever seen in my life.

  • @gideonquinn:

I am familiar with the circumstances of the show, but I thought that Hackett's participation was limited because of other commitments. I did not know the band did not invite him. If so, then that does make a difference, and was really foolish on their part.

To answer your question, Stuermer wasn't a member of Genesis, either, just a touring guitarist. I know which one *I'd* rather have play the whole show!

Just curious: What exactly did you mean about "pissing all over" Hackett?

  • @genesiscrimsonmusiciKc:

Hackett's solos aren't just ordinary guitar solos. They are integral parts of properly composed wholes. That's what makes Genesis music so different from that of other progressive bands of the era. To disregard Hackett's parts and instead engage in fast fretboard wankery, as Stuermer does, shows disrespect to everyone concerned, including the listener.

  • @Hypnopomp Genesis did the show to get Gabriel out of a fix with WOMAD; Steve isn't a member of Genesis so why the hell should he have had to play the whole show? Hackett was never asked and only found out about the reunion through his dad, hence his hastily tagged on appearance at the end of the show. And Stuermer pisses all over Hackett, no question.

  • @PeterMayer OK hold it. Genesis still have their progressive rock roots that influenced their music in the 80's and 90's. Listen to songs like "The Brazilian", "Naminau", and the live instrumental section of "Fading Lights". Bands change and explore new waters while still remembering their roots. I posted these videos for fun, not for arguments. If you guys continue, I'll close this account.
