Because hitting a string somewhere in the higher frets would produce a note, then hitting the same string closer to the body, would produce a different note, and cancel out the first.

Everyone is an expert, just let the man do his thing. I damn sure cant play an instrument but I give props to people who can put in the time and money to display there.
