Short video showing Atmel's new STK600 development board. Board alongside is STK500 with a mega16 for comparison. Video shows it starting with mega32 fitted. This is removed so a 28 pin routing card can be fitted then the chip in the ZIF is changed to a mega168 and that runs. This is finally removed and a routing card and topboard with a TQFP mega1281 is then used.

  • dude the 500 costs about 80, the 600 about 200. Would you say it is worth paying alot more for the 600?

  • @Kardenum Nope the only reason I'd buy an STK600 is if I was going to want to work with AVR32-UC3 as well as AVR8. If just AVR8 then the STK500 is MUCH better value for money and will do everything you want (with DIP packaged AVRs). As it has an RS232 connection to the PC you will need to spend another $10 on an off the shelf USB-RS232 converter cable from any good electronics store.

(BTW one "hidden cost" of the 600 is that the routing cards are $99 each too)

  • kool thanks a bunch, I think im gonna get a 500. Looks pretty cool.

BTW wtf with the $99 routing cards... are they made of gold or what's the deal jajaja?

  • Do you know how to connect the AVR Dragon to the STK600. When I read the device signature from the AVR Dragon, it is giving me a "Wrong signature" warning?

    Any thoughts, please?

    Thanks
