JACHeroSki-v1.8 with BFS!!! =D

So I have been off the whole Hero ROM scene for the last couple of weeks... which made me sad.

I used to follow Drizzy's stuff but since he broke up with JAC he hasn't been releasing ANYTHING and is always making excuses and postponing his releases...

JAC's stuff was chugging and driving me crazy cuz of a switch to "comp cache" and not using linux-swap... It was supposed to be faster but... it wasn't. =/

So Cyanogen (God bless his soul) came out with a new ROM (4.1.6) using this thing called BFS. The newest, latest, greatest thing to happen to Android. Basically it makes it fast. REALLY fast. I loved it.

So JAC got a gold of this BFS thing and meshed it into his Hero, bringing us this little gem.

Simply put. Its amazing. I was so happy there was finally a reason to return to Hero (how I missed it)

This runs beautifully on my rooted G1.

Lag is almost completely gone and if you do the right steps, you can eliminate even the smallest bit of stutter.

How? By using Overclock Widget from the Android Market, placing the widget on my homescreen, clicking it, and setting both minimum and maximum to 52700

Then, to keep my new Hero running as smooth as the day I flashed it, I have Advance Task Manager to kill all kinds of background running, memory sucking apps on my Hero...

Oh, and if you start seeing some load screens when returning to home (I haven't had ONE), you may want to consider repartitioning your SD card to 64MB or 96MB linux-swap (I use 96)

This ROM is so awesome cuz Rosie (the Hero homescreen) apparently is a lot smaller now.
This means if you DO see a load screen, its for like 2 or 3 seconds and then everything loads right up. Awesome.
Also, certain apps are given priority meaning NO delay when someone calls you, playing music doesn't keep cutting out, and flip clock is less memory hogging (no more flip animation)
I would really like to see someone cut out animations for a lot of the widgets if it means conserving memory (bookmarks, weather, etc...)
This is really just a great Hero ROM and will only get better.

Can't wait to see if Drizzy gets a hold of this and optimizes it some more... =p
