Gordon Brown to send more troops to Afghanistan

The Prime Minister will send an extra 500 personnel to Helmand Province, where two thirds of the UK presence is currently deployed.
The plan, to be announced to the House of Commons later, would take British numbers in Afghanistan to 9,500.
The move, endorsed by Mr Brown last week, follows requests for more soldiers on the ground from military chiefs, including the new head of the Army General Sir David Richards.
A total of 221 British soldiers have died in Afghanistan since the 2001 US-led invasion.

They are not the Taliban that is fighting but its the local people who is defending their homes and families from foreign invasion!!!

@jami304 1000 were sent, the 500 announced were regular combat troops, another 500 special forces were also sent, but special forces deployments are not announced due to the secrecy of their missions. The BBC found out though.

They never tell you about the oil pipeline they've been building through Afghanistan. That's what it's all about.

It should be Brown and Blair dead - executed by firing squad. Both have the blood of dead soldiers and civilians on their hands while they make themselves wealthy.

I don't buy all this female equality in the military bullshit.......send 'em out in the front-line with the threat of getting their legs blown-off by an IED like the men and maybe I'll give those so-called women 'soldiers' respect.....but then again..maybe that reality will prompt all British military personnel to be pulled-out of that un-winnable war.
