Wow, these Mapleson Cylinders must be among the only known recordings of de Reszke. I had always heard these recordings were too worn to bother listening to and that the masters were destroyed of the only studio recordings he made. And Walter Damrosch conducting. I had not realized he conducted for the Met. In 1937 his opera "The Man without a Country" premiered there.
No matter how good a voice this guy might have had if he sings stuff from 3rd rate composers he is toast.
