Also a member of Screen Actors Guild was on the 17th Annual SAG Awards Nom Committee held Jan2011.Had the pleasure of meeting incredible actors at the SAG Foundation Conversations (SAG Foundation is truly dedicated to it's members in all aspects and definitely a group to volunteer for & make donations to:sagfoundation.org) Kenneth Branagh an honor to meet him at SAG, watch Wallander which epitomizes what TV should strive to be, have memorable pictures with Ray Romano,"Men of A Certain Age" is relevant,high quality TV! at The Wrap screening 6/16/2011,asked Ray to write info on a paper but forgot my pen, fellow SAG/AFTRA members crowded around him & I could not get back to him, Ray walks through the crowd to me and says"here's a pen", he wrote the info on my paper! Ray is a TALENTED actor/writer and a precious soul who does care about philanthropy and real peoples lives. MEN got cancelled! Kyra Sedgewick, The Closer, loved her in Heart and Souls, Phenomenon, she is very sweet in person & is an incredible role model for women on & off camera,has a heart for a philanthropic causes too & I thank her (& James Duff too) Kyra truly deserves her Emmy! Rob Morrow, loved The Whole Truth, fans since Northern Exposure, he was warm & friendly, & Mark Ruffalo joy to meet, his support for social &political causes is admirable-watch Sympathy for Delicious, Amy Adams truly was enchanting in person! Unbelievable moment/ picture on 1/7/2011 with Colin Firth, a fan since his BBC work, "The Kings Speech" (Hope he wins the OSCAR yes, I was almost in heaven West Virginia! (John Denver was part of the history the NCM.) Had an even more potent, natural-high BLAST FROM THE PAST with the NCM, more powerful than having met all of the SAG actors that I had the unforgettable opportunity to meet, while singing onstage sandwiched between NCM American Folk music LEGENDS! Founder of The New Christy Minstrels, Randy Sparks; & original member who specially appeared just for this concert, Barry McGuire (remember "Eve of Destruction"), Dolan Ellis, Arizona's Official Balladeer and Pete Henderson of Skiles and Henderson, performing & are touring and playing music that is truly unique musical history Americana. As their web site says, "The New Christy Minstrels have established a Foundation, their Mission is nothing less than the preservation of Folk Music, History, Folklore and the teaching of "old-fashioned" Folk Music to younger generations where words are important and songs memorable" I, too, have a real love for folk music, having been raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains part of the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, Logan,West Virginia, & Lancaster, Ohio(I am a Delta Delta Delta Tri Delta sorority alumnus Ohio State University) singing in church, performing lyrical songs of Stephen Foster performing age 5 for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).Touring & recording NCM with Russian folk group Pesnyary a highlight learning Russian folk melodies, one of the musicians playing on a Stradivarius violin (a verse from"Veronika" was translated into English by former NCM member Dennis Scott, who went on to win two Grammy Awards:Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers Songs from the Neighborhood)!Daughter, Margaret Lily, and I are volunteer Liaisons for Make-A-Wish of Orange County&the Inland Empire are members Rancho Irvine National Charity League California, love supporting worthwhile causes like our annual NCL fashion show! Really nice to see the original(or close to!) groups that I used to see/hear when I was younger(MUCH younger!!!! LOL) still around. So many groups have changed completely over the years or dissolved or....... Or even had only one song, you liked it, but they were never heard from again.
