"Trigger" Defense Cuts, Cue Apocalypse!

The US defense budget has grown since the year 2000 by 86%, and for the fiscal year 2011 the government has requested 708 billion dollars for the Department of Defense. The debt deal that was signed in early August has already chipped away at military spending, cutting 350 billion from the Pentagon which is a start. But, if the appointed super committee can't come up an additional 1.5 trillion total in spending cuts, then the defense budget becomes a target again, with another 600 billion in cuts as part of the "trigger" mechanism.

This video really REALLY gets to me. Military spending does not equal defense spending. If our defense budget was as high as the defense contractor allowance we would be the safest nation in history and never be attacked. Don't believe the neo con BULLSHIT! It's all about protecting the defense contractors and military corporations.

this is ridiculous. the military budget is not more than half of all other spending. the military budget is EXACTLY FIVE DOLLARS! I have it in my wallet right now. I'm going to the store to pick up some aircraft carriers as we speak!

If they cut military spending that much then the citizens of the US will realize that the reason their petroleum is still affordable is that it is taken at gun point, from nations that would sell it for a fair price to anyone willing to buy it. The military is most likely keeping the US alive right now by extorting natural resources at the behest of corporate america. Brown people suffer and die at gun point for are richest 1% to live like kings.

The US government is a political red tape of corruption and waste. It's way too big and wastes way too much of the US taxpayers money. Funny that only 5% is spent on health care and education respectively. The US at one point was deemed as the NEW ATLANTIS by Francis Bacon. Now it has fallen in to the same trap that all the most powerful nations fall in to. The trap of waste and corruption. The military industrial complex is out of control and should not be policing the world.
